Catalysis using nitrogen based-metal complex
Coupling reaction using nitrogen based –metal complexes
We are developing the practical catalyst for carbon ― carbon bond forming reactions. To realize this purpose, not only with a high catalytic activity, but also easy of handling, and air stable, and economy are required. In addition, in order to be applied to the various reactions and substrates, introduction of a substituent which can be freely controlled as steric and electronic factors. Although there have been some reports of highly active catalyst for coupling reactions so far, the disadvantages are pointed out such as unstability for air and/or difficulty of the catalyst preparation, therefore the development of more practical catalyst is strongly desired.

We focused on prepared a variety of novel N-monodentate Pd(II) complexes [PdL2Cl2] and determined their molecular structures by single crystal X-ray analysis. We also prepared N,O-bidentate ligands. Pd complex of them was found to exhibit high reactivity in the Mizoroki-Heck reaction and the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction.
Some of the structure of the palladium-imidazol (-imidazoline) complexes synthesized and characterized are shown the below.10
