Since I am not blessed with enough experience to overlook the whole natural science, I will write a message to squeeze the range in the field of synthetic organic synthesis. Many teachers, senior researchers, and my students has led me this standpoint

1．The research is

It is a never-ending journey of knowledge to the undeveloped land. Only arriving at the destination is not important. Along the way, you will meet the painful and hard situation. I think only those who survived it as "successful experience" can appreciate prompts for the character formation, the growth as a human being.

2．Chemistry is

"Chemistry" is only the science that can create a new function and material useful to our lives using our own wisdom. Among these, especially, organic synthesis is closely connected with life science and material science. Now, there should be no progress of science without organic synthesis.

3．The mission of organic synthesis is

The required compounds should rapidly be synthesized in high purity, we believe can help to survive and environmental preservation of the human race by providing organic compounds. To that end, the conditions that are required for ideal synthetic method are as follows.　

1. Raw materials should be inexpensive and readily available, it is not derived from petroleum is exhaustible resources ingredients.
2. The catalyst is highly active and highly selective, handling easy, recovery reusable
3. The product is 100% yield, 100% selectivity, it can be easily isolated and purified
4. Not just chemical yield, but also atom efficiency and E- factor are also satisfied.
5. Synthetic steps should be as little as possible, that is, the ultimately short steps, and hazardous wastes were not allowed.

The scientific value of reaction and catalysts and methodology developed should firstly be assessed by the researchers themselves. Even if people who will support us were less at first, we must have the "pride of the minority." And, the judgement of empirical usefulness is left to others (for example, researchers in industry and/or researchers of the total synthesis).

4．At the end

From now the age will come that require richness of the mind rather than richness of the stuff now. Even so, importance of basic scientific research will never change. In order to be able to sustain a healthy and cultural life of people around the world more than 70 million people, we believe the competence of synthetic organic chemistry, and we want to contribute to the survival of the human race. The young people having "high aspirations and a strong sense of responsibility, and passion," are always welcome to be participation in the field of organic synthetic chemistry.
