As one of the key solutions to environmental issues, membrane technology has recently drewn more attention than ever. Nowadays the major membrane technology applications include purifying tap water by hollow fiber membranes, desalination of saline water by reverse osmosis membrane as well as purification of industrial wastewater using different types of membranes. Simultaneously, recent progress such as more sophisticated material and structure has made membrane evolved into the ones with new capabilities, for instance, the advanced separation features, upgraded performance and catalytic function. By such advancement, the applicable area of membrane technology has expanded to a great variety. Not only water treatment is included, but also gas separation such as for carbon dioxide and hydrogen is expected to have high potential for industrial use.

The Membrane Engineering Group (MEG) targets on above fields and endeavors in the development of membrane technology, through the aspects of research, education as well as industrial collaboration.
