Tour 1: the classical tour for people visiting Kyoto for the first time: Golden Pavilion (Kinkakuji), Silver Pavilion (Ginkakuji), and Kiyomizudera, one of Kyoto's most famous temples in the Eastern mountains overlooking a traditional quarter of the city.
Tour 2: a tour of Mount Hiei (Hieizan), the mountain overlooking Kyoto on the Northeastern side: Enryakuji, the main temple on the mountain, and Former Chikurinin, a temple with garden on the other side of the mountain in Otsu on Lake Biwa.
Tour 3: famous temples Southeast of Kyoto: Samboin, a subtemple of Daigoji with a beautiful garden, and Byodoin, the most famous relic of the Heian period (about 1000 years ago); this temple figures on the 10 yen coin, and its phoenix is on the 10.000 yen bill.
Everybody can sign up for one of the tours during registration (September 8) on a first-come first-served basis.
