MESSAGE

Welcome to Hiroyuki NAKAMOTO's web site. My research interests are sensing engineering in a broad area and signal processing using stochastic techniques. I and members in my laboratory are conducting some projects with domestic and foreign institutes, companies.

PROJECT

Multisensory integration and food texture:

Food texture is one of important attributes as with taste and aroma in eating foods. Our research aims are prediction of food texture based on measurement data by novel food texture sensors.

Motion measurement:

Measurement of human motion enables estimation of load and evaluation of motion accuracy. Using a stretchable strain sensor as a key element, we develop wearable devices for risk estimation of low back pain, count of breathing, training to swallow.

Nondestructive evaluation:

Various structures such as plants, buildings, road structures are aging and require periodic maintenance. We develop ultrasonic device and signal processing. This study reveals invisible phenomena in the structures.

Tactile sensing:

Skin is the largest organ in our body and has numerous receptors. We recognize texture, shape, modulus, and etc through the skin. The tactile is a typical multi-sensory perception. We aim to understand the mechanism of the sensation.
